I finally finished this little bluebird! Oh man, was this guy a difficult one to scan... I tried many times and I just couldn't capture all the colours that the painting has. The colours are much more richer and much less washed out. I'll try taking a picture with the camera next time there is a sunny day here and see if I can get a better capture of the colours.
I wasn't able to get much painting done today, so I thought I would post another current painting on my easle. This is one based on one of my pictures from Stanely Park, Vancouver, British Columbia. This is a slow going painting because I am using many light layers of paint. I have plans for a series of paintings of landmarks around British Columbia (I have already completed a small painting of downtown Vancouver). I hope you enjoy this preview of a masterpiece in progress.
I've been busy lately working on a couple little paintings and a couple big paintings. I haven't actually finished any of them yet but I thought I would post the progress of one of them just to show that I really have been painting.
This one should be done in the next day or two and the completed painting will be posted.
I'm also working on the preparation of some small canvas paper for oil paints! Yup... over Christmas I treated myself to a set of oil paints. I'll be posting the 'non-super-ugly' ones as I finish them.
I just finished this little painting and it will be posted to Ebay little later today. I'm very happy with the way this little guy turned out. He was painted with a limited palatte... three colours: ultramarine blue, paynes grey, and burnt umber. I just love the tones I can get using these three colours.
I took the reference photograph for this painting when I was in Switzerland many years ago. I have so many photographs from this particular trip that would make wonderul paintings. I'm working on another one in between sniffles... its slow going with a cold, but I'm doing my best.
This is just a little sketch of a blue bird that I completed this past week. Regular posting of paintings should resume next week... I've been fighting a bit of the flu lately and just haven't had the energy to paint.
I've been busy trying to finish up a few larger acrylic paintings these past few days. I'm entering a couple (hopefully... one if I run out of time) paintings to a WWAO art show next month in Florida. I'm really excited as this is going to be my first art show and I want to make sure that everything is as perfect as I can paint it. I'll post the painting(s) that I'm submitting over the weekend.
