Victoria Long Weekend

Well, I had an extremely productive long weekend... though, not in the studio. The Victoria long weekend is traditionally the weekend to plant the garden and generally everything else that needs planting. The only problem... I had no garden and only a lawn full of weeds. So... Out came the power tools, shovels, and just general stamina in the +30C weather. In the end, a beautiful garden all full of veggies and four blueberry bushes on the the outside of the garden fence. Now that all that is done, time to get some productive time in the studio (and out of the gosh darn heat).

Outsider - Finished!

I actually finished this one the other night... but completely forgot to post it here (that happens sometimes... especially with only a few hours sleep). Anyways, I'm really thrilled with the way it turned out though I am less than thrilled with my scanning capabilities. The colours are slightly off, though... not too bad I suppose.

Journey Home

I had the urge today to try the gesso board support that I picked up almost two years ago, and this (almost finished) painting is the result. The surface was like a dream! So smooth and so easy to blend! I can see why so many artists enjoying using this surface... and I also wish that I could find someone local who sells it. I would love to try a larger painting on this type of surface, but the shipping from the USA would be... well, rather expensive. All I have left to do on this one is some of the detail work at the horizon and then my signature. Will wait for the paint to dry slightly before that step....

Outsider - Almost Done

I have been working on this one slow and steady (I suppose slow is the opportune word), but I am happy to say that I am almost done. The marbles are finished (unless I see any last minute tweaking) and now painting has begun on the background. The backgrounds are always the nerve wracking part as I always hope that I don't mess it up (especially with all the time I have spent on the marbles).
