I was having a conversation with my Dad the other night about the types of paintings that I have posted so far and he had many suggestions for me to try. So... this one's for you Dad. I love your suggestions and I think this painting worked out wonderfully well!! Only thing I need help with now is coming up with some original names for all these paintings. :) If anyone has a suggestion... would love to hear it!
"Fancy Christmas Bauble" Acrylic on 300lbs Arches cold pressed watercolour paper 2.5" x 3.5" Bidding starts at $12.99
I'll update this post with the ebay link when bidding begins.
Since I am painting sights around where I live, I thought I would share a painting tour of my area. These paintings will vary in size and will be for sale unless other wise indicated.
This first painting is of Active Pass, the main route for boat and ferry traffic between Vancouver (Tswaassen) and Vancouver island.
"Active Pass" Watercolour on 300lbs Arches cold pressed watercolour paper 3.5" x 2.5"
In this painting, a fisherman heading off for a days work as seen from one of the BC ferries. Active pass is a beautiful area full of seals, birds, and even the occasional pod of orcas come through. The islands around Active Pass are really close together… in some places there is less than one kilometer for two ferries to pass side by side.
Another image for Christmas cards this year. I kinda like this guy... never painted a lamb before, but I think he turned out great! I'm almost done my little sample of handmade hotpress and I think I am going to try my 300lbs coldpress next. Lots of fun!!
This painting was so much fun to do! I've really been enjoying birds lately. I'm also enjoying this new hot-pressed paper I bought last week. It has lots of texture compared to the cold-pressed that I am used to using. The only drawback I've noticed so far is that this paper is a little bit more difficult to get a good scan of.
"Christmas Robin" is also going to be available as a Christmas card in a similar format as my candy cane card.
I finally finished setting up this years Christmas cards. Based off an original watercolour painting by me, the first of this years Christmas cards feature a grouping of candy canes.
These cards are made from white Strathmore 5" x 7" acid free paper featuring an embellished watercolour print. The watercolour print is printed on acid-free glossy photo paper using an epson inkjet printer. The cards come complete with matching envelope and are shipped in a resealable protective bag.
I print these cards at the time of order and they can be personalized. Contact me for more details.
"Foggy Forest" Watercolour on cold pressed watercolour paper 2.5" x 3.5"
This was an experiment with a wet-on-wet technique that I have wanted to try for a little while now. Its an imaginary forest with lots of colour! If you are interested in owning this little masterpiece, feel free to contact me.
I'm going to be listing around 7:00 PST in the evenings and I will include a link here to that auction. This was another picture I've been keeping in my little reference library. A blast to paint and I think I will paint it again when I start using my new oil set.
I had a busy weekend. My favourite art sale was having a huge sale and I stocked up on just about everything. Have new papers to try, paintbrushes to use, and even picked up a set of Gamblin oil paints. I've never used oil before, but love the look it has so next month I think I will start playing around with it. I can't wait!
I enjoyed my weekend off from painting. But the weekend is over now and the daily paintings will begin again. The one above was finished this morning and will be available on ebay a little later today.
